So there are these guys who are turning Persona 4 into a fan musical. So when they announced an art cover project for their musical number I was totally in for it.
I offered to do a piece for the project stating I had no real preference for which song but if I HAD to choose it would have been Chie's Shadow Song (A Fake Kind of Glory) or Nanako's Song about her day. I was later contacted and requested to do Rise's Shadow Song (Idols Gone Wild) instead. I was surprised, as I would have thought this would have been THE song to draw for with the crazyness that is Rise's Shadow.
So in drawing Rise, I was at first really puzzled as most of my characters I've ever really doodled were in masculine standing stances and fully clothed. I wanted to make her have some dynamic fluidity so that went through several versions before I was okay with the angle and motion. She's actually a lot more colored and peachy, but since this is Club Marukyu-- bright neons and shadow world fog really blanched her out.
In the end, I think it came together better than expected-- especially my very last min add of the Teddie Bills.
I can't wait to see the other cover arts for this. It was fun, and a challenging pose/character/concept that I would typically never draw.
